The Pleasanton sign has been one of Main Street’s chief landmarks ever since it was constructed in 1932. The Pleasanton Women’s club raised $532 through socials and raffles to have it built, and taxpayers paid the remaining $91. It originally had a blue background and was wired with electricity to light up at night. It had horns on the top that were used as air raid sirens in WWII.
